About this tool

Keyword density is the percentage of your total words that a given keyword represents. It was once a direct ranking factor; today search engines use far more sophisticated semantic analysis, but density is still worth checking — as a stuffing alarm, not a target.

Practical guidance: if any single keyword exceeds 2–3% of your text, it will likely read as repetitive to humans and may look manipulative to search engines. There is no "ideal" density to aim for.

The 2-word phrase list is often more revealing than single words — it shows the actual key phrases your content emphasizes.

Formula
Keyword density = (keyword occurrences ÷ total words) × 100

Everything runs locally in your browser — your text is never uploaded, stored, or shared.

Frequently asked questions

What is the ideal keyword density for SEO?

There isn’t one. Google has confirmed it doesn’t use keyword density as a meaningful ranking signal. Write naturally, cover the topic thoroughly, and use this tool only to catch accidental over-repetition (above ~2–3%).

What is keyword stuffing?

Cramming a target keyword into content unnaturally often to manipulate rankings. It violates Google’s spam policies and can get pages demoted. If your top keyword’s density is above 3%, read the text aloud — stuffing is usually audible.

Should I include or exclude stop words?

Exclude them (the default) to see your meaningful keywords. Include them if you’re analyzing exact-match phrases or checking overall word variety.
